Basically, whenever I see any argument about goaltenders on here it always comes down to save percentage. Whenever I see someone talking about a goalie, save percentage is the most important stat. I rarely, if ever, see an argument about a goaltender that uses a stat other than save percentage. There has to be more to goaltending than that though, right? I've seen the argument that wins is the most important statistic for goaltenders, and I'm almost inclined to agree. There's nothing more...
Before the season started, everyone on here trashed George McPhee for picking a horrible roster. He was considered a joke on here and nobody thought the team could even come close to the playoffs. Are his expansion picks completely redeemed at this point (and are people willing to admit they were wrong)? He was widely considered a bottom-3 GM to start this season but could easily win GM of the year. Then there's Gerard Gallant, as a coach he's definitely gotten the most out of his players....
I'm saying this as a lifelong Flames fan so don't think that I'm trashing them. They just don't seem like a dangerous team. First line is producing, second line with Backlund is solid. Third line centered by Jankowski and Bennett is finally producing, though guys like Lazar, Brouwer and Bartkowski probably shouldn't be in the NHL. Even Hathaway who was great in the AHL is producing. The defence should be the least of the problems but it seems like every game they get hemmed in their own...
2 sick goals last night, 5 shots, 2 takeways, almost had 2 hat tricks. In 10 minutes. (VIDEO BELOW). It's a shame the Jets have so many RW's and forwards are stacked and they go top-6/bottom-6. He's coming along nicely. A sniper with size who's excellent defensively with few weaknesses. Plays on the PP and PK (where he's a serious threat to score). He could play in my top 6 any day. Really like his overall game and it's so complementary too so he could easily play with top-line talent like...
Seriously. An expansion team with 23 players that have never played together before are currently 1st place in the Western conference near midway through the season. Everyone, myself included predicted them as a bottom 5 team in the league. Every expansion team that has ever come into the NHL has had embarrassingly bad records their inaugural years no matter who they drafted and signed in the offseason. Is Vegas a top team? A middle of the pack team getting some good puck luck? Or are we...
Lundqvist received a great deal of criticism for his performance last season. He deserved that criticism. After posting seven consecutive years with a .920SV%+ (.921, .923, .930, .926, .920, .922, .920) he posted a .910SV%. By many fans, especially Ranger fans, not only was he no longer considered elite, but he was not a "good" starter in the NHL. During the last playoff, Lundqvist posted a .927SV%. He was the main reason the Rangers beat Montreal in the goaltender duel against Carey...
Charting how each team's draft picks performed over the last 10 years.
LAST TIME OUTSIDE Sidenote, crazy how different our roster is 3 years later.
