They still gave up 30+ shots on home ice to a meh offensive core missing their best player. Team still isn't good in their own zone despite the goals Vasy gave up tonight.
They played better, but it's still not good enough.
As I said previously Vassy appears to be a problem
Agreed. We need to get equal or score one more goal than our opponents to be able to have enough points come play off time.
Victor Hedman on tonight's loss: “It was a good game, two good teams. It could have gone either way. I thought we battled hard. We keep playing like this, we’re going to have a lot of success.” #Bolts #STLvsTBL
Frustrating game and Rutta is trash
Agreed. He was as bad as Vasy tonight.
Vasy made some huge saves in that game. Watching some footage. It also looks like something is going on with Vasy's catching arm. Looks like he's not able to pinch his arms as tight or his who left side has an issue. Looking back, a lot of his goals are going in on that side, and if a pleb like me notices, a mediocre at best coach will.
Also, you heathens losing faith in the Apostle is disgusting. How dare you forsake our saviour? For shame on you all.
I speak for Oscar the Grouch.
Trash is offended by your comment.
All of the goals he gave up were do to a lack of focus minus the break away goal.
Crazy game. Thx refs.
Kuch (1G, 2A) and Cirelli (1G) with 7 shots each btw.
We need to do something about our bottom-6. Joseph, Verhaeghe, Conacher... they shouldn't be on this NHL roster right now.
From here on out the depth gets worse, we already wasted the years where we had great contract values. Even if we find bottom 6 scorers we'll be recycling through them every 2 years when they outprice themselves, the team needs more top end scoring going forwards.
3GAAlevskiy needs to be better. He made some great saves but he also let in two goals that were soft as butter.
Would be nice to get a win against one of these heavier skilled teams. We need to learn to play these games or we'll be disappointed again come spring.
Also, Johnson may never score again.
Yeah, and it ain’t getting any better after this year when Vasilevskiy’s big contract kicks in and with Cirelli, Serg and Cernak looking for raises. And our pipeline is far from spectacular or deep.
Unfortunately this is the easy way out. Lay it on the guys that play very little. This current bottom 6 is no different than every other NHL team. We are no longer spoiled with our cap situation. Seems to me it was Killorn and Gourde that took the penalties that cost us the game. Johnson played over 18 minutes and accomplished nothing. Where any of these guys on the ice when we gave up the short handed goal ?
Joseph? What the actual **** are you talking about?
Joseph is fine. The kid brings an element and it's called speed.
And he does nothing with said speed. 1 assist in his last 7 games. 1 goal and 1 assist in his last 10 games. 3 goals and 2 assists in his last 20 games. That's Luke Witkowski level production.
It's not all about personal stats........
Blues made us pay for the few bad mistakes. It was a good hard fought game that just didn’t bounce our way.
Joseph is fine as is, it's the guy's sophomore season for goodness sake. Slow start and still on pace for what, 25-30 points? That's the least of our issues.
Vasy on the other hand...that was the first game where I actually had some concern. Wasn't he injured at the end of last season? I forget what the issue was, but last night he did not look sharp. I agree with the point above about "focus". You can really tell when Vasy is dialed in and tracking pucks, and so far he doesn't seem engaged. The good thing is, he tends to bounce back strong after bad games and I have a feeling he'll be pissed off about letting that one slip away.
Tyler Johnson 1 assist in his last 10 games, makes 7 times as much, that's worse than Luke Witkowski level production. Yanni Gourde had 4 points after the first 12 games. It's called a slump, players go through them. Joseph gets no PP time to get an easy point here or there. He plays the second least time on ice amongst regular forwards just :02 seconds more than Maroon. He's more than fine in his role as an energy player on the 3rd line. His speed might not get points like you hope but he draws penalties with it like he did again last night and the team cashed in on that PP. He's far from a problem and is on pace for typical production for a 3rd liner, he's not an issue.
Oh the puck just didn't bounce our way...I read this a lot lately. Not good.
That's pace for 12 goals in a bottom-six role. Not in the history of never would Luke Witkowski score 12 goals in an NHL season.
Not everybody's gonna be a 50 point guy. It's not like Joseph is making millions and blocking some younger, better player from the NHL.
Joseph also passes the eye test. Who gives two turds about personal stats.
He’s a great player In his roll
