I think he would be an improvement i'd say after watching some Texas games. That defense is out of position so damn much and gives up odd man rushes like candy. Also not playing at all for weeks or months gets people rusty. Stars might need him again at some point and if he hasn't played actual hockey games in months he might suck for a while. They don't have to do it of course but its something to consider. Hanley clearly has no chance of playing in NHL games while everybody else is available .

Just a note for anyone who still thinks waiving Dowling won't be a problem, the Sabres are currently so desperate for forwards they're slotting a D into a W spot. There's a 1000% chance a waived Dowling never makes it to Texas.

And why would losing a career 4th liner be a problem anyway?

I like those lines. I would prefer to swap Radulov and Janmark but still good. Lookiung forward to seeing if that top line can gel.

Just like losing Elie and Smith was devastating.

Go to The Athletic party, skip the Defending Big D party.

All the smart hockey fans will be with Sean and company, all the stupid hockey fans will be with DBD.

For what is probably the first time since 2017, our offense is no longer in the bottom 10 in the league

Shows how stupid it is that even a mediocre offense is enough to exceed with when you've got a defense like ours

Safe to say it's been above mediocre on this run. This isn't including tonight's game either

Factor in the PP and its above average at best. Given the horrific display we saw in the first 9 games, I think it's reasonable to declare the offense roughly average right now.

With Dickinson playing so well since the switch to centre we are crazy deep down the middle...even with Seguin playing wing we have 4 strong centremen with Hintz, Pav, Dickinson and Faksa. Amazing centre depth

At wing a great Mix of speed (Gurianov, Cogliano, Janmark), skill (Seguin, Radulov) and grit/physical ( Comeau, Benn, Perry)

A Genuine number 1 defenseman who can shutdown opposing top lines as well as top 10 offense in heiskanen

One of the best defensive defenseman and penalty killers in the league in Lindell. ( complimented by two more physical stay at home heavy bodied skaters in oleksiak and polak)

Klingberg looks to be A resurgent offensive dynamo, then rounded out by a mistake free measured sekera.

Add all that to our amazing goalies...boy, this team has just about everything at the moment

STARS EXTEND STREAKS TO MATCH FRANCHISE RECORD

Alexander Radulov (2-1—3), John Klingberg (0-3—3) and Tyler Seguin (0-2—2) each found the score sheet multiple times to help the Stars extend their point streak to 12 games (11-0-1), including wins in each of their last seven contests. Dallas matched its franchise record for longest win streak last achieved almost 12 years ago from Jan. 29 – Feb. 11, 2008.

    * The Stars’ point streak is tied for their fourth-longest in franchise history, behind a 15-game run from Dec. 6, 1998 – Jan. 6, 1999 (12-0-3) as well as two separate stretches of 13 contests from March 8 – April 3, 2000 (7-0-6) and March 13 – April 7, 2001 (10-0-3).

    * Dallas swept its four-game homestand, outscoring opponents 17-7 in those contests (including one shootout-deciding goal). The Stars swept a homestand of four or more games for the third time in franchise history and first since the club began play in Texas.

Man do I miss Stephen Johns. How he'd round out that 2nd pair and add a little toughness too (not that this team lacks toughness). I was just watching him fight McGinn in that game with 6 fights against Florida a couple years ago. Just an intense guy, shame he likely won't play again.
