They would have lost tonight against better teams. From where I’m sitting we are 4 points out of a wildcard spot.
Does anyone think the Panthers will finish this season better than Toronto and Tampa? Deep down inside?
We need to win tomorrow too.
Start Bob back 2 back!
Sharks got humiliated by Tampa...Dangerous game
A side comment: Saarela had a decent third period. I’m not sure that came through on the TV feed (I was at the game). It looked like he was finding his game a little. Had a nice pass, a great break-up takeaway and a couple of board battles.
I'm mainly concerned about 3 things for tomorrow:
1. SJ's forwards planting themselves in front of the net/slot tipping shots, Dredd seeing a mix of teal and red all screening him.
2. Allowing Burns/EK65 to shoot uncontested shots from the point (see reason 1).
3. Evander Kane injuring Barky
Not Tampa but Toronto has been on an 85 point pace the past 82 games, I definitely have questions about them. Also 2 games in hand on the Leafs, Pens, Canes. If Florida goes 4-2 or 5-1 over these last 6 homes games they'll be on a 100 point pace and January is a pretty easy month.
There's always at least one person in opposing team's GDTs that make some kind of relocation comment. Ah yes, the mighty ratings and attendance powerhouse of... *checks notes* Columbus, Ohio has any right talking about attendance numbers... I'd love to see Columbus fan support if they had the level of success we've dealt with for multiple decades
I know Hoff has been a favorite whipping boy around here recently with Bob, but Q keeps trusting him in key situations. That's got to count for something.
And yes absolutely start Bob tomorrow! He's had a week off already, he's pumped, he's ready to go. Get him on a roll
Not sure why you’re so negative about tonight, they did fine. Got the two points, chances against weren’t the highest quality. I trust that Q has this team ready to capitalize on this home stand.
Yes, I think we can beat out Toronto. They're not that good. And we have 3 games in hand on them.
Sj should be pretty tired. It'll be their 3 rd in 4 and they have to travel from tampa for a 5:00 game. They might be angry but they'll be dead tired.
Toronto is a damn mess, Montreal is irrelevant, Ottawa yeah ok and Detroit no.
Boston is obviously above us, Tampa i think will get it together.
I think this is a battle between us and Buffalo and I have to think the hockey gods owe us a Florida play-offs match-up so let's see that happen!
We love giving opponents dman space to freely wheel around the puck. You cant agaisnt Burns and Ek
It was one of those games where the opponent didn't have a strong effort, and the Panthers didn't have a strong effort either. Aside from that, it's good to get the 2 points. Just move on to the next game and try to keep improving, and play solid hockey.
Seems like bob plays better when we are getting shelled....
After a great performance of Bob, I am still waiting for a negative comment on the goal Bob gave up. He clearly should have had that one... will the real hatters please stand up?
He's terrible! Waste of $70m!
In all seriousness though, good on him. Hope this is just the beginning.
Well obviously, real NHL goalies routinely pick up screened and deflected shots like they’re beach balls, the overpaid Bob is the worst goalie to ever wear a Panthers jersey. I learned this right here from a totally unbiased source.
I’ll hate the Panthers if we ever trade him.
Objectively, Hoff has absolutely killed some plays in the offensive zone and it's maddening to see it happen. But you can see that he's making an effort and trying to be responsible defensively. Also, he killed another guy last night.
Bob was good last night. He had not been good in the previous stretch. We've all seen the games.
I got nothing against Bob, I'm a fan actually, and I still think it was the right decision to sign him. However, he was playing like total crap for a stretch there and even got benched for an AHLer. That's a problem, and we would be ignoring reality if we didn't talk about it here.
No surprise, Bob in net tonight
Yeah, they had 3 succesfull seasons in a row, obviously their attendance raised, so they are cocky now.
But I still remember their half-empty arena, when CBJ sucked. I can only wish them to keep sucking, so their cocky fans will get back to reality quickly.
Also, I remember 15-16 season and what wonders 12 game winning streak did to Panthers attendance, when even midweek game against Ottawa attracted very decent crowd.
