CLICK TO READ THE GAME NOTES

The Winnipeg Jets complete a four-game homestand today against the Colorado Avalanche…The Jets improved to 2-0-1 on the homestand with a 3-2 overtime win against the Dallas Stars on Sunday afternoon…After today’s game, Winnipeg begins a four-game road trip Thursday against the Florida Panthers.

    Overtime Heroics
On Sunday, the Jets improved to 6-0-1 this season in overtime games…The seven overtime games Winnipeg has played is tied for second in the NHL…Since relocation in 2011, the Jets are 24-15 in home games that go to overtime.

    Home Becoming Sweet Again
After starting the season 1-3-0 at home, the Jets are 4-1-1 in their past six games in which they are the home team…Winnipeg has scored at least three goals in consecutive home games for the first time this season…Five of the Jets past six home game have been decided by one goal…During the past four seasons, Winnipeg is 62-23-7 on home ice, which is third in the NHL.

    Good Behaviour
The Jets remain the least penalized team in the NHL this season with an average of 4.4 penalty minutes per game…Winnipeg has taken just 36 minor penalties in 18 games this season, which is less than half the 82 minor penalties the NHL-leading Calgary Flames have taken…The Jets have taken two penalties or less in 13 of their 18 games this season…Dmitry Kulikov (14) is the only Jets player with double-digit penalty minutes.

Game day, yay! I busted my knee playing hockey recently so I won’t be playing any more hockey for a long time. If it wasn’t for the Jets and all you fine people, I’d be really down about it. But sports is life, life is sports. You push through adversity and even when your Buff knee turns into a Potato, you adapt to the situation and get your work done. It just takes a little longer and often goes to OT. On topic, I really hope that we get some scoring ES from the top-6, since I like what I’ve seen so far, but knowing Maurice, he must be itching to reunite Schweeler.

Now that Laine is scoring I expect he'll fire a couple missiles and if Helly ain't smelly and the patchwork D keeps holding it together we should dispatch of the Avs.

Especially if it goes to OT where we are money.

To quote Edmonds... Jets win! Jets win! Jets win!

And thanks yet again to jefferoni for the GDT.

Was listening to TSN 1290 this morning. Apparently having AHLers/7th D Sbisa, Poolman, Dahlstrom, Bitteto, Beaulieu, Kulikov means that there's no room to bring in an actual NHL calibre D like Niku. ****ing hell. This is why this paper tiger team isn't going anywhere, they fail to evaluate talent. Maybe we should send FarmHand back, maybe 4 more AHL games will make him a 60 goals scorer because he went from 0 to 30 goal based on 4 games right? Unless Hellebuyck maintains his .933 we are screwed unless Maurice makes better decisions.

Allegedly (possibly) Sami needs to get better in the room? I had suggested pulling him from the AHL line up and getting him into a stand up comedy camp and also a magic camp which would allow him to joke and prank more effectively. Perhaps his agent could hire a former dressing room rock star glue guy type to consult Sami and coach him up on dressing room banter because we all know that’s Paul’s top priority. People probably think I am being sarcastic but I’m not if I was his agent I would hire a guy to work with him on his dressing room skills.

We have to rebuild this D core and most of that will happen during the off season possibly maybe? Currently on our existing NHL roster my assessment is we have one top pairing D man (Morrissey) and one 2nd paring D man in Pionk. The rest of our guys are hard working 6-7 types ideally suited to either our bottom pair or the AHL.

This was the perfect season to play Sami 70 plus NHL games to find out if he can transition into a legit top 4 skilled D man or if he’s going to be a bust. We literally had nothing to lose this season but oh well.

As a Jets fan I am glad Helle has put this team on his back night in night out because it will keep things more interesting for the non tank nation fans while it lasts.

I wouldn't equate what you hear on the big show with Jets' plans. I think Niku will be up soon. If he doesn't get a fair look again this year, bluster away!

    Thanks Jeffi

it’ll be a tougher one today but the Avs are sliding, heavily wounded, and ripe for a burying.

Right now it’s a good time because we are winning , the optics don’t look great in certain areas agree.
Helle is the MVP so far easily.
Like many posters had said for some time that injuries would necessitate the need to split Wheeler and Scheifele.
Hoping for the best that’s all one can do.

I’m wondering if the Jets are penalizing Niku because of the car accident. Maybe he was being reckless/immature?

I would expect him back soonish.

Yes --your right, as I've read the Avs are without Landeskog, and Rattenen --which makes them a more beatable team. Sort of evens things out a bit, with all the Jet's defenseman gone form last year.

I think this is a very winnable game for the Jets. Jet's will win this by 1-2 goals IMO.

I had tickets for this game, but when I found out that it was Military Appreciation night, I donated my seats so that someone in the military or their relatives could go to the game. It was the least I could do.

**All the infections that the Avs throw up
The Kadris, Donskois, Makars, on prosper fall and make them
By inch-meal a disease! That sad group hear me
And yet I needs must curse. Let their D mistime a pinch!
Fright me with Grubauer? Nay, pitch him i’ the mire,
To be pummelled, like a scarecrow, in the dark
    With vulcaniz’d discs -
    For every trifle, let the Jets set upon them;
For the Avs are but armour’d apes that mow and chatter
And swarm without plan, or mayhap like lemmings which
Lie tumbling in the Jets way and assemble
Their pitiful D at our footfall.

    **Sonnet-free verse for this game.

I haven't watched a single Moose game yet this year but he has 10 points in 9 games so far and is currently on a 6 game point streak, so at a minimum there's that. He's 3rd on the team in scoring playing 5 less games.

They have him back playing left D so I'm envisioning a JMo - Poolman, Niku - Pionk top 4 in the not too distant future. With the Jets getting points in 5 straight games I don't think they're in any rush to shake things up.

He's getting way more playing time with the Moose than he'd be getting on the Jets , this can only be a good thing for him . I think he'll get called up fairly soon though .
