Math has been OK. Not as good coming back from the injury, but he's been fine. Pysyk, as others have observed, is fine as a forward in a pinch when we want a little help on defense. He is not good at, uh, actually playing defense. I hate for him to become the new whipping boy, but he's been fire alarm bad lately.

Curious to see dreidger tested more, though he didn’t have a lot of difficult saves he did have some nice positioning and absorbed everything.

nice having weegar back. Yandle and Ekblad are used to playing with each other and make a solid pairing. Weegar with stralman is an awesome pairing. Even though I think Yandle will be moved eventually and I’d like a different blend of not everyone being an offensive D, I can definitely live with him in the top-4 and I already want to keep Ekblad, weegar and stralman. We just need to completely revamp the 3rd. They’ll obviously pickup someone at the deadline. Just wish they could love matheson too.

If Matheson doesn't turn into the defenseman they thought he'd be by the end of next season, I definitely see Matheson getting exposed and Stralman protected.

I don't see why they'd protect Strals. He'll have a year left in his deal and will be 35, doubt Seattle would even pick him.

Yeah but we are supposed to be in our Cup window. I won't be worried that Stralman will only have 1 year left in two years. If they don't pick him, all the better.

Pretty sure I'll see what I saw in some games so far, but I'll do...

To see that amazing defensive effort... Shutout by goalie, but incredible team play ! ;)

Almost everybody from journalists to posters agreed that this has been by far the best defensive performance this year - and if you know anything about hockey (you have shown that you do), you will completely agree after you have watched it - even Driedger admitted himself that the D was fantastic, that he did not have to make 1 difficult save in the last period, and hardly had any in the first 2 periods.

Funny, that there is absolutely no grey area with some - either Bob bashing as our expensive scapegoat or Driedger praising as our cheap saviour

Do we even have a spot to protect either of them?
Assuming we go 7-3-1 and Yandle doesn't waive his NMC at some point in the meantime, we have one spot left after protecting Ekblad and Yandle, which I assume would be Weegar?
I mean who knows what the situation is in a year and half - maybe Yandle is gone, maybe Matheson takes a big step forward and plays like a great n.3, maybe one of Ekblad/Weegar choke on a peanut, maybe Weegar looks awful next year. But as of now, given Matheson's contract and Strallman's age, I wouldn't be surprised if we exposed both of them.

Given the team's great defensive play last game, I would start Bob to boost his confidence, assuming the great defensive play continues. Bob would likely have gotten a SO too if he'd played last game.

Not with the amount of bad goals he's given up lately, I doubt it. Would be very fair to say he'd have also gotten the W though.

Guaranteed? I'd take you up on that instantly. I did not see any save by Driedger that even a bad Bob would have had huge trouble with stopping.

Although I would not claim that Bob for sure would have also had a SO, but it would really not be that unlikely.

One of the things Bob has struggled with recently is rebound control. He has had awful rebound control.

Dreid swallowed up mostly everything. The bad goal would have resulted from a rebound given up by Bob.

Did you see the game against Washington when Bob started how many saves had no rebounds?

To save you some time and re-watching the game, he madea lot of no rebound saves.
I wish I hadn't deleted the game already, because I would re-watch it and the Nashville game and compare how many saves each goalie made with no rebounds.

Yes of course I did. He was bad overall.

Making a lot of no rebound save isnt the same as allowing no goals because of a bad rebound...which Judge did.

And Btw, if you rewatch Nashville, he made a great save in the second. The rebound popped in the air and it was struck down towards the goal and he extended his left leg to stop it before Nashville got a second hack and it went over the net. I think people missed that save but that was one rebound he gave up and shut the door.

Also, see 1:25. You cant tell me that wasnt a difficult save. Forsberg in the slot on a one-T?

I like that decision. Give Bob Saturday vs CBJ, his old team. CBJ is 29th in goals for and missing Werenski.

I feel like that might be the worst game for Bob to play.

I just watched that save. It was a good left pad save for sure. Difficult save , I don't know about that.

I think we're going to have to agree to disagree when you said Bob against Washington was bad overall. The guy gets a horrible wrap around here, I thought he played really well. The one goal was so so, a high blocker side shot perfectly off the top corner post.
His weakness definitely is high blocker. He is above average in every other save percentage for High glove, left pad, right pad, and five-hole. High blocker is mostly what he is struggling with this year.
