4-1 final. 32 saves for Berdin good enough for 1st star even without the goal.

.990sv% in his past three games

Well ****, if the guy can't get 3 straight shutouts in the AHL, I don't really see an NHL future for him. :sarcasm:

This post-game interview with Berdin is gold.

At 1 min 37 sec he starts talking about Chibisov starting to learn English.

But at 2 min 12 sec he says,

"You learn more when you like talk with ah people, but, I say if you talk with girls is help you more like just try!"

    This kid is awesome!

Harkins with 16 points in 14 games this season. Needed a big year and is having one so far.

    Better video of Berdin's attempt.

Worth noting that Sami Niku has switched to the left side the last three games. First time he's done that since he began with the Moose in 2017-18.

Team was 1-7, now 6-8 largely thanks to Berdin (.990sv% over last 3), Harkins breaking out (over a PPG, 13 points in his last 6 games), and Niku (over a PPG). But to note in their 1-7 start Berdin was pretty abysmal, nobody was scoring, and the Moose were out shooting their opponents pretty regularly. I don't think this team was ever as bad as the 1-7 record implied.

Also just a little confusing since our need on the right side is much greater, both short and long term.

Goaltending is so important to performance.

Glad to see Harkins and Niku excelling. Niku really should be up with the big team though.

However for the Moose you want to get Kovacevic, Gawanke and Green all playing on their regular sides, and sliding Niku to the left, with Schilling, Stojkewych, Ogilny behind him makes sense, with Logan Stanley out.

Good point. There is also Nogier on the right side. It is getting crowded, which will be good news if a couple of them pan out.

Berdin show again tonight. Saved 36/37 in a 2-1 win. Moose managed 16 shots.

    Ves 1G
    Niku 1A
    Harkins 1A

Rest aren't really important point wise.

Poirier with the GWG on some nice work by Maier. No Kovacevic tonight. Niku-Gawanke as the top pairing.
Vesalainen with the nice rip on the PP.

I thought he had more consistent production to his game, albeit as a junior like so many scoring phenom in juniors struggle to find that same success in the pros. Good for him as I, Iike the Jets scouts, have predicted an NHL career solid and worthy to come for him. Good he is showing it now ( hopefully continues onward, forward).

Helly locked up long term. Is Berdin going to be a back up then we lose him to another team???

Or does he stick around until hellys contract year and get a shot.

I really like him so far I hope its the latter

Harkins continues to pile up the points. Kind of surprised Spacek got called up instead.

Maybe to Seattle in the 2021 expansion draft? It's still early in his first full year in the AHL though, so it's a while before the Jets really have to worry about having too many good goalies.
