OK, someone has to ask, what's a Jets fan doing in NW Montana?

On November 12, 1972, Bobby Hull scored his first goal as a member of the Winnipeg Jets against the LA Sharks.

OK, I misread that. I thought the title of the book was "My Life Between the Hours of 1-3 PM". Pretty narrow subject matter I figured...

Nice story on Grant Clitsome. Glad to see he is doing ok, considering the problems many players have had post retirement due to a significant injury.

Was there ever any thought on using the the old jerseys in 2011 or was this just a one off?

From what I understand Mark Chipman wanted to use the name "Polar Bears" with these jerseys.

True North changed their minds and went with the Jets.

With so little time to develop a logo and produce uniforms I think True North just slapped the new Jets logo on a re-purposed Polar Bears jersey.

So the pic of Buff was taken in that jersey because they had nothing else at the time?

Yeah lol, they had that photo shoot like a week after relocation was approved

It was actually going to just be “Bears” but Boston was putting up a stink, so it made the change to Jets a lot easier

It's to bad they didn't stay more true to the old color scheme at least, ie: red pants/helmet.

I would be fine with our current logo on the heritage colours. Would look amazing.

Also heard that the other name that came close to becoming a realization was the Winnipeg Falcons.

Boy, Hellebuyck sure took over the goaltending lead in short order.

We've never had a proper franchise goalie before - Essensa was good but not around long enough
The SV% and GAA stats make sense because back in the day way more goals got scored

I was thinking wins, but you’re right about the SV% and GAA. Two very different eras.

Doesn’t seem like Hellebuyck has been a starter that long, but has easily taken over the wins total, in a season and career.

I think the same could be said of Khabibulin. He was only around Winnipeg for his first couple of years in the league, but he went on to have a solid NHL career.

While Smail never got a Stanley Cup ring, he does own two records that perfectly exemplify the type of hard-working player he was throughout his career.
In a game against the St. Louis Blues on Dec. 20, 1981, Smail scored five seconds into the contest — setting a new NHL record.
He now shares the record with Bryan Trottier and Alexander Mogilny.
After 11 seasons with the Jets, Smail is also the franchise leader in short-handed goals, with 25.

Doug Smail was initially ignored by NHL clubs, but the small winger's detour to UND paid big dividends
