I thought Spacek looked better that Letestu (low bar) in the pre season so I'm interested to see how he does.
Interesting that he is getting called up. He's been solid for the Moose but has been their third best C behind Harkins and Seuss though.
Based on previous pressers from Maurice I know he views him as a natural C, probably more so than he considers Harkins and Seuss a C, which could be the reason for the call up. Kind of wish they'd throw Harkins a bone though.
Congrats to Michael. He's looked good all year and has some nice vision and creativity to go with a generally responsible D-game. Hope he sees some actual ice time -- 4th line has been pretty dismal and could use a spark. Would have liked to see Niku up also but baby steps I guess.
Maurice is saying in an interview today that he has been the best player on the Moose. I hope he seizes his 5 minutes of opportunity if given it.
I mean... it's clearly not so cut and dry. If you think that Chevy just says "here you go, Paul", I don't know what to tell you. Chevy clearly cedes to Maurice on these decisions even if the GM is technically the one actually making the roster move.
I like Spacek and I'd like to see him succeed as a middle-six NHL player, even if it's somewhat of a longshot.
I am wondering if that top line on the Moose is going to stick together, and maybe all get the call at once. They seem to be clicking. Actually both the top lines for the Moose are starting to get going. Wonder if he will get the call against Florida. I can't see Maurice running Luoto-Gus-Spacek, Spacek would be the vet on that line. But then who knows. If Luoto got a chance with Lowry, and Perreault dropped down, there would be a semblance of a 4 line team. Hope he gets his first NHL game on the trip. I haven't seen anything from Logan Shaw that Spacek couldn't replace.
I don't believe he is waiver exempt next season so they need to see what they have in him, I am not expecting miracles but hopefully he can provide an upgrade on what we have on the 4th line.
