Daws is going to be the number 1 guaranteed.
I was convinced Krebs would be cut because he is just coming back from a bad injury, he is not at the top of his game shape... Newhook not surprised either, but I would have cut Lavoie over him, Holloway should have made this team as well over Lavoie and Mercer...
The only way Perfetti was going to be put in a successful position IMO would have been by playing him with Byfield and Lafreniere, cause he is a bit undersized and skating needs to improve a good deal, should make TC with ease next year though...
surprised with Zary and Newhook's early release. they were really good against Umass.
Wow...Olofsson out of the WJC with an injury.....
He's been good lately..that sucks
Aw goddammit !! Just when he was hitting his stride and all, we just can't have nice things.
Crazy that some wanted Krebs/Newhook over Caufield. Caufield will likely be leading the tournament in goals and these guys don't even touch the ice.
MAn I'm high on Drysdale,we need him
Krebs is having difficulty with his past injuries, but Newhook I don't understand, the kid will be a stud.
All three were great options in the mid first. Most assumed all three would be long gone by 15, and instead we had our pick of that group. All three had question marks- CC's size, Newhook's QOC, and Kreb's injury. SO far it look like we made the right choice, but I could see all 3 going top 10 in a redraft eventually.
Definitely, +3 years will tell us
Olofsson will be replaced by David Gustafsson from the Jets.
Tyler Seguin never touched the ice in the WJCs either, really doesn't mean anything.
Yes,many players who went on to be stars in the NHL never made team Canada......Roy,Brodeur,Macinnis....Eric Staal did not even get an invite......and former 1st overall RNH did not make it either.
It's rare for a 17/18 years old to make the cut. Staal and RNH aren't good examples since they made the jump to the NHL right after their draft and never looked back. Otherwise, they would have definitely been part of the team the years following their draft.
Hayton will be helpful defensively. He needs to be better at the other end. Didn't like him last year. He didn't use his teammates well, tried to beat guys 1 on 1, 1 on 2, often skated into poor areas and lost the puck.
Lafreniere needs to be a lot better too. In fact, the majority of the returnees do.
Looking forward to watching Byfield and Drysdale with Team Canada, and, of course Caufield with team U.S., and Norlinder with Sweden.
Would like to see Mercer make it over Dudas. If we're picking 12-20, he's a legitimate draft target for us.
Good news for Norlinder. Barrie injury likely means no Sandin release.
from what I understand the Hawks had already said they wouldn't loan Boqvist so Norlinder has a top 6 spot locked up it appears. No Sandin would be even better for his TOI.
As @montreal mentioned, Chicago confirmed that they won't loan Boqvist for the WJC. Also, with Tyson Barrie getting hurt last night, chances are, Toronto won't loan Sandin as they'll need him. So Norlinder's chances to be part of Sweden's defense have increased.
Austria will be part of the WJC next year. So no Dichow next year for us.
Turns out, the Leafs loaned Sandin to Sweden for the WJC:
Sandin officially added to the Sweden lineup. Norlinder should still have a spot but that will effect his ice time.
